The full court zone trap press is the nuclear weapon of high school basketball, and Boys and Girls used it to devestating effect against George Westinghouse in the New York City Public Schools Athletic League (PSAL) Brooklyn AA division opener for both teams.  Boys and Girls pressed after every make throughout the game, forcing a host of turnovers that led to many, many easy scoring oppportunities for the home side.  Eleven Boys and Girls Kangaroos scored in a game that was a rout midway through the second quarter.

This year's edition of the Kangaroos features tremendous outside shooting, as five players combined for a total of 12 three pointers in this contest.  George Westinghouse played a variety of zone defenses against the Kangaroos, but none of them were even slightly effective.  Late in the game, Boys and Girls, which substituted liberally in the second half, led by as many as 50 points.  All of the Kangaroo reserves who played in the game displayed very good fundamental skills, as did the team's starters.  The winners are a deep, skilled, quick, multitalented, extraordinarily well-coached, and unselfish squad.  They are strong contenders to repeat as PSAL champions.

For Boys and Girls, 6' 4" senior Nicholas Jackson scored a dozen points, as did 6' 7" senior Nick Bauciquot.  Bauciquot came off the bench, and all of his points came from behind the arc.  The Kangaroos got 11 points each from 6' senior Tyliek Kimbrough and from 6' 2" junior Wesley Myers.  Myers made three three pointers.  The winners got 10 points each from 6' 6" senior Leroy Fludd and from 5' 11" senior Bryce Jones.  The Kangaroos snagged 44 rebounds in the game, 11 by Fludd and 10 by senior Joel Angus.  Sophomore guard Isaiah Gurley had a terrific game for George Westinghouse.
